To boost book sales, sometimes the names of celebrities are prominently displayed on the book cover in large fonts. This is often seen in cases where a supervisor or translator is prominently featured. Supervisors or translators typically oversee the overall structure but may not be the actual authors. To investigate this, you can check the copyright page where such information is usually written. Look for co-authors; they are the true authors.

Furthermore, there are cases where another co-author, not listed, may have contributed. In the case of translated books, the initial drafts may be written by aspiring translators.

Publishers also strategize to make money. Books with the names of celebrities as supervisors or translators require careful attention before reading.

Especially with textbooks from cram schools, some schools might hire part-time workers to write the manuscripts, so extra caution is needed. If in doubt, it’s necessary to call the cram school directly and confirm. Don’t forget that there are people working behind the scenes, doing tasks that are not visible to the public.

Do not be misled by publishers who advertise supervisors or translators in a grandiose manner. Pay attention to this aspect when looking at books.
